Who We Are

Your Hosts

Hi, I’m Jennie! I grew up in Pittsburgh and now live in Northern Virginia, but Deep Creek Lake has become our family’s favorite escape and gathering place. Every season here has its own magic — from summer hikes and lake swims, to winter skiing, to cozy fall and spring weekends by the fire.

 

You’ll often find me here with my rescue pup, Marty, our kids, and extended family — cousins, grandparents, and friends included. That spirit of togetherness is exactly what inspired Camp Kindred: a place designed for families, friends, and pets to feel at home while making lasting memories.

 

I personally designed Camp Kindred with a mix of comfort, nostalgia, and camp-inspired touches so that every stay feels both elevated and playful. We’re now expanding the vision next door with a six-bedroom home featuring an indoor pool, which will be available on its own or as part of an 11-bedroom estate for larger gatherings.

How many guests can Camp Kindred accommodate?
Camp Anawanna sleeps up to 14 guests comfortably in 5 bedrooms -- 4 king Ensuites & a bunk room with 2 queen beds & 2 twin beds
Is the cabin pet-friendly?
Absolutely! We welcome well-behaved dogs for a small ($25/day/dog) fee
What amenities are included?
Hot tub, firepit, smart TVs, bunk room, stocked kitchen, outdoor fireplace, board games, puzzles and more. A full list is available on the Amenities page.
Is there a minimum stay?
Yes, a 2-night minimum is required, with longer minimums for holidays and peak seasons.
Do you offer discounts for longer stays or last-minute bookings?
Occasionally! Be sure to join our newsletter or follow us on Instagram for exclusive offers. We always offer a return guest discount that you also welcome to share with friends & family, once you stay with us.
Is the property fenced in for dogs?
Not fully fenced, but we’re located on a 1-acre wooded lot & the neighborhood is very quiet, great for leashed walks.
What time is check-in/check-out?
Check-in is at 4 PM, and check-out is by 10 AM. Early check-in (2pm) and late check-out (12pm) are available for guests that book directly with us!
Do you provide linens and towels?
Yes, all beds are made before your arrival, and we provide bath and hot tub towels.
Is there WiFi?
Yes, high-speed internet is available and reliable for remote work or streaming.
What happens if it snows or rains during our stay?
The driveway is plowed in winter, and we offer a list of nearby indoor activities in our digital guidebook.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful cabin near Deep Creek! Everything was absolutely perfect — even better than the photos. The home was spotless, cozy, and thoughtfully designed with every detail in mind. From the hot tub and fire pit to the soft slippers in each bathroom and convenient chargers by every bed, it was clear our host went above and beyond to make guests feel comfortable. There were plenty of towels, extra supplies, and everything we could possibly need for a relaxing getaway. It truly felt like a home away from home — only better! We appreciated the care and thoughtfulness that went into every aspect of the space. We can’t recommend this cabin highly enough and would love to come back again. Jennie’s place was perfect for our group of 11 on our annual cabin trip. The house was clean, spacious, and had the perfect mix of cozy cabin charm and modern design. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to cook for a crowd, and the bedrooms were clean and comfortable. Big bonus that it allowed pets so everyone, including the furry family members ones, could join in. We especially enjoyed the shuffleboard table and bonfire pit. The location was unbeatable, Driving through the mountains surrounded by fall colors was incredible, and the views from the cabin were just as beautiful. There were even pickleball courts nearby for a fun change of pace. Jennie was an awesome host. She was responsive, organized, and clear with her instructions. Check-in and check-out were smooth. Great house, great location, great host. We’d stay here again in a heartbeat. 100% worth it!

Jennie's home in McHenry is so beautiful and unique with the whimsical decor and attention to detail. We've stayed in many places in McHenry, and this home boasts the most fun and the most, well-equipped in terms of the kitchen, bathrooms and activities for all age groups. We love the bright airy features of the home and would've taken advantage of the outdoor areas had the weather permitted us. The quality of mattresses, bedding, kitchen essentials and furniture were noticeably of high standard. The ease of check in and out was very convenient.

It was also well-stocked, which made it easy to settle in and enjoy our time together. We especially appreciated the outdoor games provided—they kept everyone entertained and made for some great family fun. The location was perfect—tucked into a nice neighborhood (not on a busy main road), yet still just a 10–20 minute drive from shops, restaurants, and activities.
